MANUELA HERES

In the making of a photo project I fell in love with the Colombian Pacific Coast, this led me to live in Buenaventura for 10 months. In this place, long hit by violence, poverty and structural racism, I found women that, although being most vulnerable by definition, still are the ones that, with their resilience and love, bring the community together in such rough times. Sharing every day with these women, an enormous respect and admiration for them grew in me. I felt the urge to portrait them in opposition to the outsider prejudiced gaze. So... please, meet my neighbors.
